Travel India Europe to Nepal by land
Unforgetable journey from the heard of the Europe by buses and trains througth Turkey,Irand,Pakistan and India to Nepal. Walking to the base camp of Mt.Everest and swimming in Indian Ocean. A great trip.

This journey began in Europe,Spring 1995 when I travelled with a few friends to India by land. We left Prague by train and travelled through Hungry and Romania. We swapped the train to bus in Bucharest(RO). Then, with many bus changes we travelled through Turkey to Zahedan (Iran). There is no regular transport between Zahedan and Queta (Pakistan)so we had to hire a taxi. The rest of the trip we went by train again. The whole journey took us 10 days and cost an unbelievable $US 100 ! From India to Nepal we travelled by bus again. The road ends at the village Jiri. From there we had to walk one week to reach the peak of Kalapatar. I did the rest of the travelling in India by train. The way back was the same. The pictures below are a selection of what I photographed, mainly in Nepal.

Click to enlarge in new window Click to enlarge in new window Children are one of the most gratifying objects to photograph. This picture of a women was taken in a poor suburb of Dehli, near the central station. A crying baby is not wearing a nappy, instead it has trousers cut on the inside.
This smoking man was happy to pose for me. He used a handkercheif instead of a cigarette filter. Would you accept his offer ? Click to enlarge in new window
Click to enlarge in new window Click to enlarge in new window Cows are sacred animals in India and enjoy absolute freedom. The bars in the coach windows prevent people getting in and out through the windows. The children on the platform are selling water from ceramic pots.
This picture is from a week-long walking journey to Katapatar. This path is following the river and the lanscape around is spectacular. Click to enlarge in new window
Click to enlarge in new window Click to enlarge in new window Finally I reached my high-altitude goal. Kalapatar 5545 m. Mt. Everest is in the backround, three kilometers above me. The traveller usually builds small towers for good luck on their travels.
