Travel Australia Australia 1999
About what I have seen in Australia. Mix of pictures from national park, but not only from there.

This pagediscribes our journey in September 1999. The goal and route of this trip wasn't planned ahead and that is the trick of how to really enjoy travelling. We visited the not very well known "Blackdown Tabeland National Park" east of Rockhampton. This park was spectacular. Most of the pictures below are from there."Eungella Valley" in "Eungella National Park" was also unusual.

Bowen - the city of mangos was where we turned back, considering the date and age of our car. Unfortunately, on the way up I lost my camera (from the roof of the car), so all you can see is what we photographed before that.

"Blackdown Tableland National Park"

The other interesting thing is that all the attractions are on a really small area. This big stone is standing on just one meter square. The dry watter fall is fills up during the rainy season.
The beauty of this place was found by aborigines many thousands of years before we invented "national parks". These paintings could mark aboriginal sacred place. Eucalyptus trees are very common in Australia. Click to enlarge in new window Click to enlarge in new window

That makes a spectacular scene when the waterfall sends water falling down off the tablelands (see left pict.) The picture on the right is proof of difficulties with making picture in such beatiful enviroment like this. I needed camera with 360' lens.
"Other pictures from Australia"
I would say that this picture characterises the Australian lanscape. Click to enlarge in new window
Click to enlarge in new window I think this picture should be on every page about Australia. For me it is proof that design should have a place in every day life.
