Chair Mirek

This dinning chair creates an unusual and original shape by developing two symmetrical halves, connected in two places with a medium other than timber.

After finishing Marilyn I saw the possibility of improvements, creating an even more contemporary appearance by using more aluminum in the construction.

The timber used is Karri Oak, an undergrowth timber from the Karri forests of the South of Western Australia. This timber is not commercially available, and Mirek may be the only one piece of fine furniture chair ever made out of karri oak. The construction is very similar to Marilyn chair, but I decided to use rounded aluminum profiles in the joinery, and effective ellipse shapes.
